Baby countdownBaby countdown
OK so here we go, it's real and it is definitely going to happen. The countdown has started and you are going for a launch ! The countdown to becoming a mum is here and now with a meeting with your baby face to face not far away now. While you are probably very glad to get to the final stages of pregnancy, don't wish it away as you will look back and think fondly of that time believe it or not. You are after all facing the final stages of the 'pregnancy benefits' cups of tea on demand, allowance to put your feet up, early nights and if you are really lucky a seat on a train.
Lets be realistic then, any mother will tell you that life is not the same after you have a baby, it changes things forever. Keeping your house or flat in tip top condition, no clutter and everything in its place is unlikely from now onwards I am afraid.
Here are some ideas you'll definitely want to squeeze in before baby makes the entrance.
1. Spontaneous sex - Ok lets be realistic here, the time you have together on your own is going to decrease somewhat. You are definitely at odds of enjoying some good, old-fashioned spur-of-the-moment sex. Babies have the uncanny knack of knowing when things heat up in the bedroom and are able to emit a cry that is able to calm things down.
. 2. Time out and alone with your other half. - Juggling nappies, feeding, changing clothes, sleeps (?) and everything else that goes with babies make it very difficult to grab time together alone and talk. Its is important to try and grab these times somehow, get a family member or a friend to baby sit, even if for 10 minutes while you go to the shops together to buy a pint of milk. Even just making breakfast together can give you a few minutes together. So in the final countdown to this time, sit down, turn the TV off and TALK.
3. Treat yourself - Going out for a meal together or the cinema will be gold dust. Take a final visit as a couple to your favorite place or maybe a meal. Savor the feeling of not always thinking about what your little one is up to. Going to the cinema with a baby is hard work and probably not going to make the full length of the film without attention from you one way or the other. Even if this isn't your thing normally its worth doing it now.
5. Have a Girls night out. Going out with girls again will be like gold dust, a real treat. Last chance to hang around in a café over a coffee and a cake trouble free. Chat to your friends and catch up on old times and even have a full conversation from start to finish being able to concentrate all the way through it
6. A spicy meal - If you intend to breast feed the days of a hot Mexican or Indian will decrease for sure. Spices absorb into breast milk and do not make for good feeding. Have a sizzling hot meal and savour it.
7. Photo opportunity - Taking some photos of being pregnant at this stage is well worthwhile and will last a lifetime
8. Sleep in - New parents dream of (or not!) sleeping in and having a lazy morning. Have an extended lie in and relish the soft pillow one last time
9. A hot bath - Might not sound much now, but BELIEVE ME this is another golden moment to lie back, surrounded by bubbles and think sweet things. Reading a book and wishing the days away will be another moment to relish.
