4little1s.com, the online nursery furniture, baby bedding and baby gifts retailer recently ran a survey to find out what percentage of parents found out the sex of their baby before they were born. The survey then went on to ask the reasons behind wanting to know or not know.
The results are detailed below and provide for interesting reading.
1. Did you ask the hospital to tell you if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl before birth?
53.3% of the respondents said yes, they did ask the hospital to tell them. 46.7% of the respondents said no, they would rather not know.
2. What were your reasons behind wanting to know or not wanting to know?
Didn't want to know:
Of the respondents who didn't want to know, there were comments such as 'wanted to have a surprise', 'few surprises left in life' and 'it's more exciting not knowing'.
Wanted to know:
Of the people who did want to know, practicality won the day. Most responses were around being prepared generally, wanting to know if the colour was blue or pink for clothes or the nursery and a number were 'just curious'.
3. If the answer was yes you didn't want to know, was it accurate?
100% of the people who had asked was it going to be a boy or a girl, all confirmed it was 100% accurate. Phew!
