Curry and a baby anyone? The owner of 4little1s.com, Christianne James, the online nursery furniture and baby bedding retailer, recently conducted a survey asking mums three simple questions for fun:
1. As they were approaching their due date, did they have a curry to 'encourage' baby along? 2. What type of curry? 3. Did it work?
The findings showed that an amazing 80% of mums who completed the questionnaire said that they tried a curry in the hope of encouraging baby along.
It's fair to say the jury is out as to whether it actually worked or not. A cool 50% said it did and yes, you guessed it, the other 50% said it didn't! It's certainly true that the hotter the curry, the more likely it was to work - the most successful favourites being Madras and Vindaloo. As an alternative, one mum recommended that a week of eating milder curry seemed to do the trick!
4little1s.com received some great alternative suggestions. These included hot spicy pizza, hot ginger beer and a homemade family recipe for extra hot onion bhajis! In short, it looks like the idea of having a curry to 'encourage' baby along is alive and well!
